Buenas, instale este soft con un rpm y me dice que ejecute

/usr/bin/vmware-config.pl

pero me da error y no se porque

Tienes las fuentes del kernell instaladas?...creo que es eso lo que te falta

si que las tengo tio, el apt get me instalo nuevo kernel con sus fuentes. ademas si te fijas en esto:

aki opto por la opcion predeterminada

y aki entra en la carpeta de las fuentes :)

Pues si...tienes razón.
en las paginas de ayuda de vmware tienes problemas similares...por ejemplo:
besides the kernel and the kernel-source package, update also the kernel-syms ("modversions") package to 2.6.5-7.95 with the update program you (or with rpm -Uhv) * reboot with the new kernel 2.6.5-7.95 * goto /usr/src/linux (which should point after the update to /usr/src/linux-2.6.5-7.95/) * make cloneconfig * make prepare * vmware-config.pl this works with the default kernel and the default modules which came with the kernel-default-2.6.5-7.95.i586.rpm

que traducido segun un traductor on line, seria algo parecido a esto:

ademas de el nucleo y el paquete-de fuente de nucleo, actualizar tambien el nucleo-syms ("modversions") paquete a 2.6.5-7.95 con el actualiza programa usted (o con rpm -Uhv) * re (bota)arranque con el nucleo nuevo 2.6.5-7.95 * goto /usr/src/linux (que apuntaria despues el actualizar a /usr/src/linux-2.6.5-7.95/) * hacer cloneconfig * hacer preparar * vmware-config.pl este trabaja con el nucleo de defecto y los modulos de defecto que venia con el defecto-de nucleo-2.6.5-7.95.yo586.

juas que traduccion mas perra, asi que lo leo en ingles mejor, aun asi no se que quiere intentar decirme esto, que recompile el kernel o algo ? :S

creo que lo que te quiere decir, es que te metas en las fuentes, y como root, teclees:
* make cloneconfig
* make prepare
* vmware-config.pl

si que funciona :o, pero salen mil opciones pa configurar y le doy to a predeterminado, pero mejor espero a que llegue mi amigo que lo usa :)
